This book does not cover everything, but it is a good start. Don't hesitate to do web searches for unanswered questions you may have; there are lots of sites out there with good info. Even so, I still recommend a book for tablet beginners. This one is easy to read, and you can use it as a reference. It is not necessary to read it cover to cover. allstar
The instructions that come with a new (or used) TAB are painfully brief. This is the TAB bible!!! It takes you through the "How" and "Why" of your Tab, step-by-step.The two areas, I wanted to most to know about (Transferring ITune libraries and video chatting) were unfortunately not as informative as I'd hope. I attribute this to the speed at which functionality and app availability evolve. For example, at one point Skype was compatible with the Galaxy, now it's not (or if it is, the reviews in the Android Market make me wary of trying it).For a Newbie, like myself, this book is the Holy Grail--sparing my nerves and precious time as I tumbled around with this thing to discover its full capability beyond the pamphlet that came with it! :-)This is weighty book, written in a very conversational and amusing tone--it's like the author is just sitting with you giving you a tutorial (I imagine this is what it would be like if the sales person wasn't hawking a commission and valued you as a customer!)Get it . . . you'll be glad you did. I
My Dad bought a galaxy tablet,and never having used a computer before,was having a few"problems".this book helped him figure out the basics of surfing and email and why tabs have to be closed and downloading and uploading and apps and blah blah..etc.The book has allowed him to understand all the things he can do on the tablet in text he can understand.I remember using the "windows for dummies" books years ago and remembered how helpful they were. Great buy.
I have always used these dummie books for pc stuff.This book helped me navigate my new Samsung Galaxy Tablet.Saved me a lot of time and aggravation.Would recommend this to anyone who doesn't know much about pc or tablets.
After recently purchasing the new Galaxy S Tab, I've been passing down my old Tabs to folks that were used to iPads and iPhones.Instead of explaining everything, it was easier to just give a copy of this book along with them.Of course, I read through it myself to make sure it was helpful.To be honest, most of what is contained in the book can easily be learned simply by playing around with your Tab, but it still gets a solid 4 stars because it does hold a few nuggets that even a seasoned user might use.Written in the familiar Dummies format, with the usual side notes and tips. Easy to read and can help you to quickly get used to being in the Galaxy.The people I gave it to agreed with the above, finding it helpful in learning a new system.
Samsung Galaxy Tabs For Dummies is a very good book to get you started on learning and working the Samsung tablet. I did however use it with another book with larger & clearer diagrams. As with all "dummy" books I found too much sarcasm & humor when all I wanted was instructions....
I'm only on Chapter 7 right now. But, It is helping me now. First few chapters were slow and not much help for me. But, now I am getting into things I don't understand and the book is helping. After, I have read more of the book I will give another review. I am glad that I have the book.
I GOT SO MUCH INFO OUT OF THIS BOOK IT JUST PROVED HOW BIG A DUMMY I WAS JUST LIKE THE BOOK SAYS BUT US OLDER FOLKS NEED SOMETHING LIKE THIS TO RELY ON AND I SURE MAKE GOOD USE OF IT...YOU WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT THE AUTHOR KNEW ME PERSONALY...
