For the price (even at Amazon's discount) I expected the photos to be a better quality, perhaps a little glossy too. The photos are beautiful but they actually look better on line when you view Amazon's peak inside. In the book the pictures look like the copies I get from an in-jet printer of my old family photos. Not as sharp and clear as the original. If you are looking for inspiration and excellent instructions on how to create an English Garden then I recommend Ursula's other book- "The Ultimate Garden Book For North America." This one is a great coffee table book. You and your guests will enjoy looking at it once in a while. There are phtotos on almost every page. However, I don't think it will be very useful if you want to update or create a new room in your garden.At the end of each chapter there is a list of gardens in England that you can visit for the particular theme.The Chapters are titled as follows:1. Her remarks are appropriate to the purpose of the book. The illustrations fit well with the text and are remarkable in their scope and beauty. It is a very good price for a book of this quality.

A larger coffee table-size book with beautiful, colorful photographs of a variety of English gardens, it has interesting, easily readable descriptions/details of each garden and its history. For all who love England, gardens, and inspiring ideas, it's the perfect book!

It is a really nice book, well made, bright colors. The only drawback was that I was hoping for a more European feel.

The only thing lacking were photos of Renishaw Hall's gardens! Especially the follies! But a great start on a broad subject. :)

I purchased all 3 volumes and *all* 3 held information I needed with *real* examples. (Examples: I needed many ways to use echo, specifics on ping, set, variables, comparing strings with if statement and better error handling in Vol 1, setlocal, delayed expansion, the Replace command, which I didn't even know existed but will really help with my current project in Vol II, and handling virtual drives, pushd, popd, tasklist, taskkill, parameter handling and most importantly sophisticated For statements in Vol III, again with actual detailed examples.) Absolutely recommend, a must buy!!!

Its a wonderful series of books. One of the best if not the best on batch scripting. The author very clearly explains the functionality and walks the reader through step by step. Kudos to him for that. The books are great for a beginner and may be even used as reference for more skilled users. After reading through the Kindle versions I wanted to buy the print versions for my mini library at home but it doesn't seem to be available yet on Amazon.

I got this because, I draw as a hobby. I have attached one of my pictures. I'm not great so I thought this book would help. The book does have some good techniques and lets you know some of the drawing tools required, but it is also very vague in my opinion when you need step by step instruction. I would say this is more for the advanced artist. I also got the Basic Drawing book from this series, I will post a review after I dive into that one. I am thinking about doing some of the Kuberts school correspondence courses but that's around 200.00.

Gene Frank's books are my favorite learn to draw books. This one contains many of his drawings from his other publications. It is fun to go through the steps as he does with each drawing and see your results. Not a lot of words, just what tools he uses and 4 or 5 steps. This is an exceptional book.

Its shows step by step how to draw with pencil. Learn lots. Very very interesting. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to start drawing.

I love the great detail and range of categories in this book. There's a still life section, vehicles, landscape animals and whatnot. It's a longer book and more helpful than other books like this from other publishers that I've seen.

I'm just beginning to draw and this book doesn't offer much in the form of directions. It is an awesome book, but if you are just learning this book is to advanced. I will put it on a shelf for now and save it for future use.

Its alright. Not exactly what I expected. Maybe to presumptive of my skill level.

I finished this book in one day because I wanted to see where it was going. This is the first book I've read by Mr. Palahniuk and I think I'll definitely take a chance to read more, though I feel a little bit disappointed (with myself) when I spend money on a book and it only takes me a day to read. Usually I like to drag it out, but this book really isn't one to drag out. You might get confused and forget what's going on, and I think it really needs to be read altogether to get the full force of the events and characters (especially with all the name changes).His writing is good and the characters are definitely compelling! I found Brandy Alexander to be my favorite.The only thing that kind of got to me is there was so many freaking twists! After like the third one, I felt a little like it was cheating to keep the story going. If that kind of thing bothers you, I wouldn't suggest this book then. But to me, I enjoyed them even though there was so many. It did keep me reading, so there's that ;)

I love this book. It is a nail-biting, jaw-dropping ride from beginning to end. The characters can be loved and hated all within the span of a few pages. Definitely not for the faint of heart. Definitely a book I will read again and again, but probably not until I'm ready for another roller coaster ride.I would guess that a movie version of this book would easily have an R rating. Just a heads up. Chuck is brilliant, but he is also blunt and not afraid to make his characters bold, brazen, and proud to be that way.

This is one of my top three favorite books of all time. Chuck Palahniuk doesn't disappoint. There's a certain darkness to all of his books, and his characters always have a villainous quality to them. I also really love the way this book moves back and forth through time. Invisible Monsters will hook you right from the beginning and keep you on the edge of your seat until the end. There's a certain level of horror in the book because I think a lot of people can recognize their worst fears in the main character, a former supermodel who got her jaw shot off. It's like a bad accident: horrifying but still stirs up a kind of morbid curiosity.

I thought this was another outstanding novel by Palahniuk. I thought the pacing of the story was well and especially liked how a lot of the surprise in the novel came from character's true identities. But not just in the normal sense of a character's motive being different then expected, but due to the fact that many of the characters are addressed by different names throughout the novel, there are moments where we find out that two characters who we think are different are actually the same person. And this keeps the reader on edge and does not allow them to take names for granted throughout the story.I also thought this was one of the better openings of the Palahniuk novels. It really started with a bang, and even though we traveled back in time to grasp exactly what was going on, it did a really fantastic job of giving you a good "juicy" scene to get you interested in the novel from page one. The ending sections of the novel are everything that Palahniuk fans are to expect from him. The events really start to ramp up and surprises and shocking events are around every corner. In this novel in particular we get to see a scene in the first few pages of the novel, then at the end, armed with more information on the situation, view the event very differently, and this is very effective and interesting.At it's core this book feels like a story of many people searching for their identity and place in the world, which is something that at one level or not very relatable. The twists and turns throughout the novel mixed with a quirky narrative and some interesting characters make this a very enjoyable read.

Chuck Palahniuk has taken a lot of flack over the years for being a one-trick shock pony incapable of doing anything besides shoveling blood and guts and graphic sex into the reader's face. This is true, for the most part. But he used to do it with a guise of social commentary (see Choke, Fight Club). Recently with books like Snuff, the shock-value isn't the main attraction, it is everything, coming off as a shadow of his former self. Well let's just say the epitome of his former self is contained within this rollicking beast of a book. It starts off with a literal bang at a wedding gone horribly asunder and ends in somewhat the same fashion. In between we learn about lip gloss and pill addiction and let's not forget the Thanksgiving Dinner Conversation! Very strong, aberrant stuff here, Mr. P. The characters are all pretty intriguingly strange. There isn't a lot of meat around them, however. They spend most of their time spouting odd nihilistic philosophy as they barrel headlong toward the afterlife. Think Thelma and Louise if one of them was a trannie and the other had her face torn off and reconstructed. It's pretty fun, though not quite as good as Lullaby or Choke. There was nothing physically wrong with the book, it was in good condition. However, the actual content of the book was a disappointment. The author writes in a disjointed way and the lack of fluency makes it difficult to form imagery in my mind as I read. I’m an avid reader and this writing style was a huge ‘miss’ for me. I wasted my money on this one.

Bought it for my daughter to use in 8th grade band. Haven't heard anything negative and it is what the teacher required so must be good.

I use these books to warm up community band that I conduct nearly every rehearsal. The exercises prepare each musician comprehensively... and they are structured in such a way that no section is left bored while others focus on specific skills.The chorales in this book are BEAUTIFUL, and I really enjoy that the warm-ups go beyond the standard flat "band keys". All-together an indespensible book.

I have used the warm ups, chorales, and scale studies with my advanced students and with my beginners as well. This book came to my attention when I visited the middle school band director of one of my clarinet students. It was obvious that the students in this band program were a step ahead of the rest. The warm-ups have a lot to do with this.Intonation, breathing and articulation are immediately addressed by using these exercises. I even purchased a trombone copy for my son and a flute copy for my daughter so we could play together at home. 5 stars for sure!

I have read over 10 books about the holocaust in the last several years. As a religious Jew and a proud member of my Jewish community, I believe it is essential to remember the profound suffering of our immediate ancestors at the hands of the German Reich. Though my parents were spared the atrocities described in this book, they may have well been, had they not migrat d to America before the war. In fact, I went to school with the author of this book and had classes with her mom, the sister-in-law of the survivor (Murray). This book, like many of this genre is hard to read because of the pain and emotion it stirs, to anyone with a conscience and concern about human suffering. However it is a story well told about the power of survival and the human spirit. Highly recommend.

This book is not for the faint at heart. That being said, it is written EXTREMELY well. The writer captivates and grabs at one's heart strings from the start.. I really feel that books like this need to be required in schools across the world, so that we may not forget the horrible atrocities committed during, and leading up to WWII. "THOSE WHO FORGET HISTORY ARE BOUND TO REPEAT IT!"

I have read a lot of books on the Holocaust and this one was very interesting but very short. Not too much detail about his thoughts and feelings. But I imagine he was in shock to see such evil done to innocent people like he saw. Just can't want to think you actually witnessed it and could do nothing. It is so amazing this man survived for so long in the camps. But it stayed with him forever. No way to forget the evil he saw and felt.

I liked the book, but I feel there was alot that was left out. I felt like it was just a brush on the surface. Another 100 pages of going deeper into parts of the story, would have been good for me!

First One In, Last One Out: Auschwitz Survivor 31321 is an exceptional memoir of a Holocaust survivor and was written by Marilyn Shimon. Marilyn wrote this memoir about her Great-Uncle Murray Scheinberg. It is an amazing story that takes us through Pawiak prison in Warsaw, Tarnow prison, Auschwitz/Birkenau, Sachsenhausen, and Dachau from 1939-1945. He was to lose his wealth, his business, his home, his family, and his friends. However, he never gave up knew that the survivors would have to bear witness to the atrocities they witnessed. He was a witness at the Nuremberg trials where he helped bring to justice some of the perpetrators. Marilyn grew up listening to Uncle Murray telling his stories and her Mother wrote a book in the 1960’s; but it was never published. At that time, no one wanted to hear about the Holocaust. Marilyn became a Holocaust educator and took on the role as author of his story. It is well researched and well documented. It is definitely a memoir which should be read and shared.

Excellent story, inspirational, quick read! I enjoyed the background information, the start of the story, often this type of story begins at the concentration camp, but this book is excellent in telling the story before the Holocaust.

A real heart retching story.

I pretty much love anything by Sandra Boynton. My almost 2 year old loves her books too. We've been reading this one for months, and my toddler loves making the animal sounds. I recommend this author.

The text is simple and the pictures are pleasing. When we received the book, I thought it was too simple and that she would get bored. I was wrong! We have read this book HUNDREDS of times. For a while, it was her first and only choice. We read it so many times that I knew it by heart. If she was upset in the car we would start "reading" without the book. She would instantly simmer down and start filling in the animal sounds.Fast forward a year after a move left it buried at the bottom of a box. We came across this gem of our collection. Now almost 3, she says, "My moo book, my moo book! Please read moo moo!" It was left, but not forgotten. What was once a staple in our bedtime routine now brings joy and delight to her one year old sister.If you are looking to add this to your own library, DO IT! You won't regret it! It would also make a great baby shower gift or first birthday present. Some of our other Boynton favorites are Barnyard Dance and the Going to Bed Book.

My toddler and I love Sandra Boynton books. This one was one of our favorite when she was a bit younger. I would read the book but leave it for my child to fill in the blanks and say the animals sounds. At the end of the book, I would point at the different animals and ask her the name of the animal or the animal sound.Even though she's mastered animal noises and names she still picks this book up from time to time. Wonderful simple read that helps teach young kids about animals and their noises.

Another great book from Sandra Boynton. We own almost all of her books and this is one of the best. My daughter is 19-months-old has been obsessed with animals and the sounds they make for months now. This book was perfect for teaching her what different animals say. As always her books are short and sweet. Moo, Baa, La La La does a great job at keeping my daughter engaged in the story.We read this book every night along with The Going To Bed Book.I highly recommend this book. This truly is a book that every baby/young toddler should have.

Really nice book that incorporates "This animal goes XXX, And this one goes XXX" - With simple, fun pictures, and a little fun to keep my baby interestedThe illustrations are simple, so that my daughter can focus on them, and the animals look interesting and fun, but are not so artistically changed that I feel like my daughter wouldn't recognized what they are. A lot of books go a little too far from the animal they are trying to draw and I worry my child might not make the association.It's short, simple. And strangely cool in the way of coloring. So many books are bright and in your face, this book was not like that. Which made it very pleasant to read to my infant.This is a really good book for very young children who are starting to babble (baba, dada, mama) - To encourage such sounds and put some sounds to common animals.

I didn't expect my granddaughter to like this book as much as she does. She just turned two. The book is simple and I thought maybe a little too simple for her, but no. She wants to read it again and again and it cracks me up how she pushes her tongue to her lips to mouth "LA LA LA!". Well done!

Sandra Boynton is one of our favorite authors for when the kids were little. I purchased this book for a friend for their baby shower and they loved it too. Boynton pulls in the youngest "readers" with her sing song story and adorable pictures. This specific title was a favorite for my kids and I can still recite the book by heart without looking at the pages.
