ANDREW LAWSON is widely regarded as England's leading garden photographer. For the price (even at Amazon's discount) I expected the photos to be a better quality, perhaps a little glossy too. The photos are beautiful but they actually look better on line when you view Amazon's peak inside. In the book the pictures look like the copies I get from an in-jet printer of my old family photos. Not as sharp and clear as the original. If you are looking for inspiration and excellent instructions on how to create an English Garden then I recommend Ursula's other book- "The Ultimate Garden Book For North America." This one is a great coffee table book. You and your guests will enjoy looking at it once in a while. There are phtotos on almost every page. However, I don't think it will be very useful if you want to update or create a new room in your garden.At the end of each chapter there is a list of gardens in England that you can visit for the particular theme.The Chapters are titled as follows:1. The book I purchased from Amazon is exactly as advertised. It is not a scholarly work, but the author knows her subject well, and discusses and explains it in easy-to-read language. Her remarks are appropriate to the purpose of the book. The illustrations fit well with the text and are remarkable in their scope and beauty. It is a very good price for a book of this quality.

A larger coffee table-size book with beautiful, colorful photographs of a variety of English gardens, it has interesting, easily readable descriptions/details of each garden and its history. For all who love England, gardens, and inspiring ideas, it's the perfect book!

I received my book the day prior to the projected delivery date in top class condition.I must let everyone know if you happen to love gardens then this is one book you must have. The pictures are just astonishingly beautiful and those who put this book together have taken great care in ensuring the location of these incredible gardens (true works of art) is clear for the reader to see.A wonderful wonderful book!!!

It is a really nice book, well made, bright colors. The only drawback was that I was hoping for a more European feel.

The only thing lacking were photos of Renishaw Hall's gardens! Especially the follies! But a great start on a broad subject. :)

Having written scores of batch files dating back to the days of DOS (but the most sophisticated a batch file menu), and having taking programming courses in C, Basic, Pascal, PL/I, VB.NET, COBOL and self-taught VBA in Office, I never had any course in batch file programming. I recently had a project at work that could really use sophisticated batch files, because at work we're limited to VBA, VBScript or batch files. I purchased all 3 volumes and *all* 3 held information I needed with *real* examples. (Examples: I needed many ways to use echo, specifics on ping, set, variables, comparing strings with if statement and better error handling in Vol 1, setlocal, delayed expansion, the Replace command, which I didn't even know existed but will really help with my current project in Vol II, and handling virtual drives, pushd, popd, tasklist, taskkill, parameter handling and most importantly sophisticated For statements in Vol III, again with actual detailed examples.) Absolutely recommend, a must buy!!!

Its a wonderful series of books. One of the best if not the best on batch scripting. The author very clearly explains the functionality and walks the reader through step by step. Kudos to him for that. The books are great for a beginner and may be even used as reference for more skilled users. After reading through the Kindle versions I wanted to buy the print versions for my mini library at home but it doesn't seem to be available yet on Amazon.

Arrived on time and as ordered

I like this. I am a few years away from writing batch scripts so this was a good book to remind me. It takes the novice nicely into the commands as well as reminding those of us who have not used it for some years.
